Yes, fruit & vegetables are hard to come by. Wonderful idea! If you have a garden, consider donating. A lot is usually wasted. It is easy to judge, but the reason the poor spend food stamps on junk food, is because it is cheaper. They want to fill their kids stomachs up the most they can with the littlest they can. Not good, but fresh produce can be expensive. It is not ignorance or lack of caring. I'm sure it is a rare luxury at homeless shelters. Read in a recent People article about a woman in Chicago who started donating from her garden and that evolved into mass producing veg. She is a dynamo! Amazing idea if you can.
